David brings with him over 35 years’ experience and has seen the health industry transform over that time to be much more focused on how lifestyle factors can influence health outcomes.
He is an Exercise Physiologist with post-graduate qualifications from University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and spent two years at the University of Arizona where he earned a Masters Degree.
Throughout his career he has played an instrumental role in introducing executive health programmes to several companies and in introducing mobile cholesterol checks in WA shopping centres. He was the first Exercise Physiologist in Western Australia employed in the Aged Care industry working for one of WA’s largest not-for-profit aged care providers. In that role he helped numerous seniors to improve their health, fitness and capability.
David is the current Chair of the WA chapter of Exercise and Sports Science Australia. He is a member of the External Advisory Committees for the School of Health Sciences at Notre Dame University and The Exercise Science and Rehabilitation program at Curtin University and regularly speaks to community and corporate groups on health and fitness related topics. His popular Age Well keynote is based on his first book “If I’d only known I’d live this long.”
His passion has lead him to specialise in metabolic health, weight management and performance. Using research technologies such as ECAL and the METS protocols, he is better able to help clients make lifestyle changes that lead to improved health, function and performance. His areas of interest include conditions such as fatty liver, metabolic syndrome and energy-related disorders.
If required, David’s Medicare number is 4317373J.
Kirsty has been in the health industry for over 10 years now and has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings from gyms to corporate health, dealing with people from all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
After completing both her Bachelor of Exercise Science and Bachelor of Exercise Rehabilitation at the University of Western Australia she became accredited as an Exercise Physiologist with ESSA in 2011.
During this time she has experienced firsthand the complexity of obesity, and the frustrations it can create. That’s why she was delighted to be re-introduced to a key metabolic technology at METS that has been used in research and in athlete populations but not yet in those that need it most – the general population. Measuring a client unique metabolism enables her to individualise client programmes and validate the effectiveness of any intervention.
She has now seen over 1000 clients at METS and would like to use her experience, expertise and passion in metabolic health to help you reach your weight loss goals and improve your chronic disease outcomes. Her specialty areas include PCOS, diabetes and sleep apnea.
If required her Medicare number is 4435861K.
